Icekap Therapeutics for Head Pain

Real talk: migraines are the absolute worst. Unfortunately, many of us are all too familiar with them. I got my first migraine at the age of 21 and still experience it at least a few times per year. My triggers are often from stress, jaw clenching at night and being overheated, or during pregnancy. If you suffer from migraines, you know the feeling — it's so horrible and debilitating. I need to be in a dark room with my eyes closed for hours and all I want is an ice pack on my head.

Lately I’ve been getting migraines more often, so this year I turned to a product that I want to tell you about today which has genuinely made a world of difference for me. Let me introduce you to the Icekap, the original headache and migraine relief cap. If you suffer from headaches or migraines this will be your best friend, so keep reading for more information and a discount code!

Just so you know, this blog was created in partnership with Icekap Therapeutics. I’m so excited to be partnering with them because their product was already one of my all-time favourite purchases!

Let’s begin with a visual reference — what’s that on my head?!

That, my friends, is the Icekap — my personal migraine hero. It's a comfortable, washable cap with medical grade gel packs that you put in the freezer and add into the cap's designated areas. You can choose to tighten the sides using the adjustable tension band to create pressure points, which has been a game changer for me as my headaches are often in my temples. The gel packs hold temperature for up to 2 hours, so you can go live your life. (You can also heat it!)

This use of cold therapy — known as cryotherapy — is believed to cause swollen blood vessels to constrict, reducing the pressure of head pain. In tandem with Icekap’s pressure system, which comforts key migraine areas to soothe the ‘pounding’ of a migraine, that’s a powerful combination.

On top of this, Icekap incorporates aromatherapy. When I put my cap on, I apply their therapy grade essential oils — a lavender and peppermint blend made on Vancouver Island — on my temples. Together, this system creates a calming effect when I’m in bed with a migraine. It’s a natural way to relieve pain that’s safe for little ones to use, too.

Icekap Therapeutics is a female-founded company that began right here on Vancouver Island in Canada. Andrea, Icekap’s owner and a fellow mom in Victoria, BC, was a lifelong headache and migraine sufferer — so this business was personal for her. She had spent her life in and out of hospitals getting tests and prescription drugs which impacted her ability to operate normally, and she was desperate for a drug free alternative that would let her do the things she loves. Andrea created Icekap for herself and anyone who has to deal with the financial, professional, and personal costs of having head pain. As Andrea says, how can we accomplish anything when our control centre is down?

Now, let’s talk pregnancy for a moment! I just announced that I am four months pregnant with my rainbow baby. WAHOO! And let me tell you, the first trimester was awful for migraines. I was in bed once a week and had bad headaches 2-3 times a week. I didn’t sleep well the first trimester as my two year old was going through a sleep regression and I had insomnia some nights. I know sleep was a trigger, but hormones are also a HUGE migraine trigger for many pregnancies. I woke up every day and put the Icekap on to relieve some pain, because I wanted to still do things as naturally as possible. I would often nap with the Icekap on my head — it’s so comfortable. My husband and son sure got used to seeing me with the cap on! I highly recommend trying this if you experience migraines during your pregnancy.

The Icekap really is an amazing product for a range of concerns. Using its combination of cryotherapy, pressure therapy and aromatherapy, it aids in relief not only for migraines and headaches, but also cold and flu symptoms, concussions, chemotherapy, hangovers, etc. Available worldwide and made with long-lasting, quality materials, Icekap is used in hospitals and is recommended by doctors and neurologists.

In addition to helping so many people (like myself) relieve pain and continue their daily rhythms, the company gives back by supporting Chronic Migraine Awareness, Inc. and The National Children's Cancer Society. I definitely encourage you to check them out if you suffer from head pain or if you know someone who does!

If you would like to purchase, Icekap is giving our followers 20% off using the discount code PURPOSEFUL20, plus you get a free essential oil. Purchase here: https://www.icekap.ca/. I hope that this helps someone on their healing and/or pregnancy journey!
